IRIS CLAW IMPLANTATION FOR ECTOPIA LENTIS IN MARFAN SYNDROME



PURPOSE: A case of lens subluxation in Marfan syndrome managed by Iris claw lens
implantation
METHODS- A 15-year female school going student came with insidious onset of diminution of vision in both
eyes of 1 month duration. On examination vision in both the eyes were 6/60. Anterior
segment examination showed prominent corneal nerves, subluxation of lens inferotemporal
in right and supero-nasal in Left eye. Fundus in both eyes were normal. Complete blood
examination and CT scan were normal. Echocardiography showed cardiomyopathy. Patient
was managed by lens extraction and iris claw implantation in both the eyes
RESULT- Patient’s corrected vision was 6/69P in both the eyes at 1 month without any
 complications
CONCLUSION-Iris claw implantation gives excellent result for ectopia lentis in Marfan
syndrome
