Visual outcome & clinical profile in Post capsulotomy patients by using ND YAG laser

PURPOSE -To find out the visual outcome & clinical profile in Post capsulotomy patients by using ND YAG laser
METHOD–After thorough Ophthalmic assessment,ND YAG laser capsulotomy was carried out under topical anaesthesia for 60 eyes with PCO.Post laser visual acuity compared to preoperative visual acuity was noted immediately,after1week & 1month
RESULTS–The observations made on the basis of our study are as follows-Maximum eyes were in the age group 50-60years.Males(66.7%)outnumbered females(33.3%)in ratio of 3:2.Average time interval between cataract surgery & ND YAG laser capsulotomy was 23 months.Post laser capsulotomy visual improvement was 87.3%.Site threatening complication like Macular oedema noted in few cases
Conclusion–PCO is a frequent delayed postop complication of cataract surgeries, which could be easily treated by ND YAG laser capsulotomy,which gives the advantage of non invasive,effective,relatively safe technique & it does not require patient hospitalisation.
