Title:Corneal foreign bodies-Comprehensive case series

Objective:To study risk factors,occupation,demographic details,management and outcomes of patients presenting with corneal foreign body

Methods:A prospective analysis which included 150 patients with corneal foreign body between march 2023 to April 2023.Demographic data,clinical features,visual acuity at presentation and follow up,treatment and outcomes was analysed

Results:Among 150 patients,the average age was 40yrs,male predominance(67%).Majority were occupational hazards(72%)commonly involving metallic foreign bodies(76%) and vegetative matter(20%).Visual acuity varied in each cases.Cases managed with foreign body removal followed by topical antibiotics.Outcomes varied from complete remission to remaining of rust ring in 18%,corneal opacities in 34%,ulceration in 8%

Conclusion:Corneal foreign bodies pose a significant burden on the individual.Majority were preventable.Implementing preventive strategies and promoting workplace eye safety,education and awareness is crucial
