Pierre Robin syndrome- a rare case with ocular involvement

Purpose - To report a case of Pierre Robin syndrome and its ocular features
Material - A 11 year old female presented with complaints of swelling in both eyes . She underwent multiple surgeries for cleft lip and palate, and of retrognathia during infancy. She had multiple bilateral pre auricular tags, retrognathia, glossoptosis, low set ears, right anotia and left auricular atresia. She has epilepsy and PDA with severe PAH- for which she is being treated.
Ocular examination showed uncorrected vision of 6/6, N6 in both eyes, with epibulbar dermoid and conjunctival xerosis, and normal anterior and posterior segments. MRI study showed no intraorbital involvement of dermoid.
Result - As she had no visual disturbance related to the dermoids, we decided against active intervention. In collaboration with pediatrician and ENT surgeon, she was diagnosed with Pierre Robin syndrome.
Conclusion - Management of syndromic cases requires high index of suspicion and multidisciplinary approach.
