Visual outcome after cataract surgery in patients with complicated cataract secondary to uveitis.

Purpose:To study the demographics of complicated cataract and visual outcome after cataract surgery in complicated cataract secondary to uveitis.
Methods:This is a hospital based prospective interventional study of patients with complicated cataract secondary to uveitis undergoing cataract surgery at a tertiary eye care center from May 2022 to June 2023.Detailed ophthalmic examination was performed pre and post op. 
Results:26 eyes of 26 patients were taken.Visual acuity at presentation was HM+ or worse for 17 patients.Types of surgeries performed were SICS in 22 patients,phacoemulsification in 4 patients.Major intraoperative complications encountered were Posterior capsular rent in 2 patients.Post operative visual acuity improved to greater than 6/36 in 15 patients.
Conclusion:Cataract surgery with IOL implantation plays a vital role in offering good visual rehabilitation in patients with complicated cataract secondary to uveitis.
