Comparison of two scoring systems for detecting early forms of keratoconus 

PURPOSE:To investigate the efficacy of new objective K SCORE method of ANTERION in comparison to the Belin Ambrosio enhanced ectasia display(BAD-D) score from Pentacam AXLWave for the early detection of ectasia susceptible eyes. METHODS:Prospective study of 200 eyes of 200 patients undergoing refractive surgery. All eyes underwent Pentacam AXL Wave and ANTERION scanning to derive the respective keratoconus score. The agreement between the parameters was evaluated using intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC) & paired sample t-test.Efficacy was assessed by receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve analysis. Statistical tests were performed using Medcalc 20.115. Results:ICC for the parameters was >0.92.ROC analysis of BAD-D had a 94.74% sensitivity and 99.18% specificity. ROC analysis of KSCORE had a 92.86% sensitivity and 91.79% specificity. Conclusion:Overall the ANTERION and Pentacam AXL Wave parameters showed good agreement.The sensitivity and specificity of both were comparable
