The vanishing veil- A case of self-resolving transient feathery cataract post vitrectomy.

Aim: To highlight the occurrence of transient cataract post Vitrectomy with internal tamponade. Clinical presentation: A 32-year-old patient had trauma to the left eye, resulting in vitreous haemorrhage and retinal detachment, with visual acuity of counting fingers. He underwent uncomplicated micro-incision vitrectomy, endo-laser, and fluid air exchange with silicon oil insertion. On POD 1, his visual acuity was CF 1m, Anterior segment examination showed posterior subcapsular feathery cataract in the previously clear lens. He was advised to maintain prone position. After 2 weeks the feathery opacity on the lens had spontaneously resolved with visual acuity of 6/60. Conclusion: Transient feathery cataracts are a common occurrence following Vitrectomy with gas tamponade and usually resolve on their own without requiring any intervention. To reduce the formation of transient cataracts, it is advisable to advocate immediate postoperative prone positioning and avoid the supine position.
