A RARE CASE OF SUPERIOR LIMBIC KERATOCONJUNCTIVITIS IN A 13-YEAR-OLD CHILD

Case report

A 10-year-old male child came with pain in B/E for 20 days. Associated with FB sensation, burning sensation, & itchiness. On SLE, hyperemia of the superior bulbar conjunctiva, papillary hypertrophy, punctate corneal erosion was seen. FS of the punctate corneal erosion.

Discussion

SLK was diagnosed, we started with 1% CMC (6 times) and 1% Fluorometholone (4 times), tapered over 2 weeks. Chronic hypertrophied papillae are the source of inflammation, leading to trauma of the superior bulbar conjunctiva, epithelial changes.

Conclusion

After 1week, improvement was rapid, little congestion, papillary hypertrophy. SLK is seen in adults and primarily females (80% were > 30). This is a rare case of SLK in a child, we learn that it responds well to the current protocols in treatment.
