Neuro-ophthalmic disorders associated with COVID-19 infection
To evaluate the neuro-ophthalmic disorders associated with COVID in patients. Retrospective evaluation of records of patients diagnosed with neuroophthalmic problems with COVID infection and categorized I -pupil , II-optic nerve, III-cortical, IV-cranial nerve and V-miscellaneous disorders.15 patients were diagnosed. 3 in category-I with Adie’s pupil diagnosed 1 to 2 months following infection. 3 in category II, one each with optic disc edema, optic neuritis and neuroretinitis. 4 with cortical vision loss in category IV with residual deficit after 2 years . 4 had cranial nerve palsies, two with third and 2 with sixth nerve palsies and recovered after 3 months. One had quiescent multiple myeloma, developed flare up and orbital apex syndrome following COVID infection.Neuro-ophthalmic disorders are common following 2 weeks to 3 months of COVID infection. The residual deficits are common except in cranial nerve palsies, which showed complete recovery.
