CORRELATION OF RNFL THICKNESS MEASURED BY OCT WITH VISUAL FIELD ANALYSIS IN POAG PATIENTS

PURPOSE:To compare OCT measurement of RNFL thickness with VFA in patients with POAG.
METHOD:A cross sectional study done on 19 patients diagnosed with POAG based on OCT and Automated perimetry findings.Data was collected and analysed.
RESULT:Out of 19 patients ,11 were male and 8 were female patients.A significant correlation of (p<0.000) between NFL thinning and glaucomatous nerve head changes noted.A significant correlation of (p<0.04) between NFL thickness and Visual field defects noted. And (n=4) number of patients with normal visual fields showed peripapillary NFL thinning in OCT.
CONCLUSION:There is a significant correlation of patients with Visual field defects and OCT findings of NFL thickness with OCT being better diagnostic procedure in early diagnosis of Primary Open Angle Glaucoma.
