BASAL CELL CARCINOMA: A CLINICO-PATHOLOGICAL CORRELATION

INTRODUCTION- Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most prevalent cancer worldwide, with the majority (80%) occurring in the head and neck area, specifically 20% affecting the eyelids. BCC accounts for 90% of malignant eyelid tumors, slightly more common in males
CASE REPORT-1.A 66 year old male patient, came with complaints of black nodule growing in the medial aspect of the left eye since 5 years. On the left upper lid, a 7*5 mm pigmented swelling was present with well demarcated margins 1-2mm medial to medial canthus. Skin over the swelling appeared brown to black in colour, shiny, tense. Central ulceration of about 2*3 mm with rolled up irregular margins.
2.A 74 year old male came with complaints of hyperpigmented mass on the right upper eyelid since 2 years. On inspection, right upper lid showed a solitary, hyperigmented, irregular mass measuring around 1*1.5cm at junction of medial 1/3rd and lateral 2/3rd. Both patients underwent exicisional biopsy and HPE showed Pigmentary BCC.
