Mass Ocular Casualty Among Cement Factory Workers In North Karnataka 

Introduction: 
In the construction industry safety measures at workplace are crucial in preventing eye injuries. Ocular injuries affects workers’ quality of life. The aim of the study is to manage eye injuries among cement factory workers and their sequelae.

 Methods:
A case series of patients attending Ophthalmology OPD following ocular injury at cement industry in North Karnataka.

Results:
A total of 10 patients aged 25 to 45 years old completed the study. The ocular injuries includes 2 foreign body injuries, 2 subconjunctival haemorrhage, 1 limbal ischemia, 5 corneal haze and corneal burns.

Conclusion:
This study shows different forms of ocular injuries encountered among cement factory workers and their management. Thus, safety assessments includes educating, training and regular monitoring regarding eye safety which is required to reduce the accidents and to manage mass casualties thoughtfully in order to prevent consequences from ocular injuries.
