Ophthalmic perspective of connective tissue disorders
Connective tissue disorders encompass complex autoimmune conditions with manifestations in different organ systems of the human body. Presence of ocular disease in patients with these disorders is common. Ocular manifestations may sometimes be the first presenting feature of the disease. This makes it all the more important to understand how the eye is affected in patients with connective tissue disorders.
This comprehensive course gives an overview about different clinical manifestations of such disorders in the eye; including discussion on its laboratory diagnosis and management. Briefly conditions like scleritis, uveitis, keratitis, dry eye disease and cataract surgery planning in such patients are discussed with a practical approach to the management of each of these. Also key systemic features and immunosuppresive therapy is discussed for a holistic understanding.
