COMPARING ASTIGMATISM IN PATIENTS UNDERGOING PHACOEMULSIFICATION BY 2.8 VS 5.2 MM TEMPORAL INCISION

PURPOSE•To show comparable astigmatism in 5.2mmtempral incision versus 2.8mmtemporal incision. METHOD.Group A were operated by 2.8 temporal clear corneal incision with foldable IOL, whereas group B had 5.2mm temporal limbal incision with Rigid IOL by phacoemulsification technique .•Best corrected vision where recorded in postoperative period after 1 month of surgery.RESULT.•At 1 month of follow up, post-operative astigmatism was comparable between the groups.•.CONCLUSION•5.2 mm temporal incision with Rigid PMMA in patients showed comparable result with 2.8mm temporal incision with foldable IOL•Therefore 5.2mm temporal incision with rigid IOL can be considered for patients undergoing cataract surgery in economically weaker sections and camp patients.
