CLINICAL PROFILE AND VISUAL OUTCOME IN PSEUDOEXFOLIATION SYNDROME UNDERGOING MANUAL SICS
PURPOSE- To study the clinical profile, intra & post operative complications & visual outcome in patients with pseudoexfolation(PEX) syndrome undergoing manual SICS. METHODS- A prospective observational study done in a tertiary care centre. All the patients underwent MSICS after complete ophthalmic examination. Intra operative complications during surgery was noted. Patients were followed up postop on day1,7 &30 of surgery for BCVA & for post operative complications. RESULTS – A total of 35 patients was included in the study. PEX distribution was observed on anterior capsule & pupillary border in 43%, on pupillary border in 23% & 34% on the anterior capsule. 8.5% of patients had PC rent & 17% iris prolapse intraoperatively. 71.5% had corneal edema on POD1 and 74.3% had BCVA of < 6/60 POD1 85.7% of patients had BCVA >6/12 1 month post op. CONCLUSION- PEX is associated with higher intra & post operative complications & poorer visual outcome necessitating cautious surgery & expertise.
