VISUAL OUTCOMES IN SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF PAEDIATRIC ZONULAR CATARACT.

AIM: Evaluate the post operative outcomes in paediatric zonular cataract surgery.
METHODS: Prospective study of 34 eyes of 18 children diagnosed as zonular cataract.The demographic data, Preoperative, Intraoperative, Postoperative details were noted. Surgery performed is Lens aspiration with Primary PCIOL implant with or without Primary posterior capsulotomy and Anterior vitrectomy. 
RESULTS: Mean age at the time of presentation(years)-8(SD=3.28). 30 eyes underwent lens aspiration with Primary PCIOL implant with Primary posterior capsulotomy and Anterior vitrectomy. Mean follow up period was 24 weeks.30 eyes(88.24%) had vision 1/60-6/60 before surgery. BCVA at 6 months following surgery was 6/60-6/24 in 14 eyes(41.18%),6/24-6/12 in 8 eyes(23.53%),6/12-6/6 in 12 eyes(35.29%).Most common complication observed was postoperative uveitis in 6 eyes(17.65%), PCO in 2 eyes(5.88%) IOL decentration in 2 eyes(5.88%).
CONCLUSION: Zonular cataract even on late presentation has good visual outcome.
