Cataract
title- Intracameral injection of Mydrane(Phenocaine plus) in cataract surgery
During cataract surgery, maintaining an adequate degree of mydriasis throughout the operation is important for visualization of the capsule and lens. Mydrane is an injectable intracameral solution containing 2 mydriatics(tropicamide0.02% and phenylephrine0.1%), an anesthetic(lidocaine1%) which can be used as an alternative to the conventional topical pre-operative mydriatics. Purpose: To find the efficacy of mydrane in cataract surgery. Methods and materials:50 eyes of selected patients undergoing cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation received 1ml of Phenocaine plus before capsulorhexis. The diameter of the pupil at the beginning of the surgery,(after injecting midrange)throughout the surgery, and at the end of surgery was measured. Results: This provided rapid and sustained mydriasis through the surgery’s end. Conclusion: Mydrane offers a promising alternative to traditional regimes using eye drops, allowing for better patient flow and optimization of the surgery.
