Cataract

 STAR IN GALAXY APPEARANCE - A Rare Case of  Cataracta-Punctata-Caerulea with Sutural cataract.

A 28 year old male presented with diminution of vision in both eyes since 6 months. The patient was apparently alright 6 months back when he started developing diminution of vision in both eyes (RE>LE). It was gradual in onset, painless and progressive in nature. No family history of cataract. Best corrected visual acuity in right eye was 6/36 and left eye was 6/24. On anterior segment examination cornea is clear, there were multiple large breadcrumb like punctuate opacities or greyish white and blue spots scattered all over the lens, along with these multiple opacities in cortex, patient also has star shaped lenticular opacity in centre, following the anterior(erect) and posterior (inverted) Y suture s/o blue dot cataract with sutural cataract. IOP and posterior segment examination was normal in both eyes.The patient underwent right eye cataract surgery and post op vision of the patient improved to 6/6p.
