CLINICALOUTCOME OF MANUAL SMALL INCISION CATARACT SURGERY IN PATIENTS WITH IRIS-COLOBOMA

Aim
To evaluate the clinical outcome of cataract surgery in iriscoloboma patients
Methodology
This is a hospital based prospective interventional study of 20 patients with iris-coloboma underwent cataract surgery conducted over 6months. BCVA,gradeofcataract,intraoperative&postoperativecomplications,
postoperative BCVA at 1week & 6weeks were recorded.
Results 
Mean age of patients at surgery was 55 years with mean BCVA at presentation was 6/60.Grade 3-4 nuclearsclerosis noted in15%of cases&lens subluxation noted in 2%of cases.MSICS was done.PrimaryIOL placement was successful in 65%of cases.Intraoperativecomplications were zonulardialysis,PCR&capsulorhexis extension.The mean postoperativeBCVA at 1week&6 weeks was 6/18.Postoperative complications were raisedIOP,corneal edema,IOLdecentration& PCO.
Conclusions 
Cataracts in iris-coloboma patients are usually advanced compared with age matched cataract patients.Delayed surgery results in sub-optimum outcomes, thus early surgery is advisable
