Cataract

Title: To study the outcomes of MSICS in patients with mature cataract having PXF syndrome.

Aim:To study visual outcome, intra and postoperative complications of small incision cataract surgery in patients with mature cataract having  PXF syndrome
Material and method:Prospective study was conducted from May2022-March2023 including 72 patients having mature cataract with PXF in tertiary care centre.All patients underwent complete evaluation prior to surgery,follow up was done on day1,week1,1st&3rd month
Result:Out of 72 patients 53% were female,62% had bilateral PXF,68 % were >60yr.Rigid pupil was noted in 35% and required intraoperative management,zonular dialysis(7%),posterior capsular rent(4%),nuclear drop(2%).On follow up 88% had corneal edema on day1,irregular pupil and decentered iol was noted in 22%,10% respectively at 3rdmonth.70% achieved postoperative BCVA >6/12  at 1stmonth
Conclusion:This study concludes that MSICS can give good result in terms of visual acuity and postoperative outcome if careful preoperative assessment,necessary intraoperative measures are taken
