Comparision of Scleral fixated intra ocular lens with retopupillary iris claw lens

Purpose
To compare visual outcome and complications of scleral fixated intra ocular lens with retro pupillary iris claw intra ocular lens

Methods
Patients who had iris-claw IOL and SFIOL surgery from April 2022 to April 2023 with 6 week followup are studied. Best corrected visual acuity and complications were analysed

Results
Both techniques have equally good visual outcome , where 85% patients with irisclaw had 6/18 and 80% with SFIOL had bcva of 6/18. Iris claw implantation is technically easy and surgical time is less with mean of 21minutes but some patients had post op iritis , pigment disperion and ovalisation of pupil. SFIOL is preferred in cases of severe iris damage but is technically difficult and has more mean surgical time of 35minutes.It is associated with suture related complications and cystoid macular edema.

Conclusion
In india the data on head to head comparision of these surgeries are very much less and there is need for such studies for better visual outcome.
