Effect of cumulative dose of steroids and ocular manifestation in nephrotic syndrome children
Nephrotic syndrome is the most common glomerulopathy in children aged 2-18 years which requires prolonged course of steroids therapy causing ocular manifestations like cataract and glaucoma. Aim and objectives : To study the correlation of cumulative dose and duration of steroid therapy with ocular manifestations in children with nephrotic syndrome Method: A cross sectional study was done for 60 children between 2-18 years of age from nephrotic department diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome and on corticosteroids therapy without any systemic illness. Cumulative dose and duration of steroid therapy was recorded for all patients. Result and conclusion: Among 60 patients,12 patients were having myopia and 4 patients had cataract But there is no significant correlation of dose and duration of steroid therapy with ocular manifestations in children with nephrotic syndrome.
